What it is
Novenario is a free Android app for praying the traditional Colombian Novena de Aguinaldos, the Christmas novena prayed with family and friends in the nine days before Christmas. It opens on the right day and walks through each prayer step by step, so the leader and everyone answering always know where they are. The prayers are in Spanish; the app's interface is in Spanish and English.
What it does
Today's day
From December 16 to 24 it opens on the matching day of the Novena. Outside the season you can start from day 1.
Step by step
Daily prayer, the consideration of the day, prayers to the Virgin and to Saint Joseph, the gozos and the prayer to the Child Jesus, with a progress indicator.
Leader and response
Tapping the Hail Mary, the Our Father or the Glory Be opens the prayer split into the leader's part and everyone's response. When it is said three times, the app counts them.
Pick up where you left off
If the Novena is interrupted, the app remembers which prayer you were on.
Adjustable text
Make the text larger or smaller to read comfortably, even by the light of the nativity scene.
Offline, no ads
All texts are included. The app needs no internet, shows no ads and collects no data.

The texts
The Novena de Aguinaldos was written in the 18th century by Fray Fernando de Jesús Larrea, a Franciscan friar, and revised in the 19th century by Mother María Ignacia (Bertilda Samper Acosta), who wrote the gozos. These texts and the traditional prayers are in the public domain.
